Egg Safety Tips

Practice safe food-handling when it comes to preparing your eggs. This includes:

  • Thoroughly cleaning your hands, as well as the surfaces and utensils that come into contact with raw eggs.

  • Separating eggs from other foods in your grocery cart and grocery bags.

  • Keeping eggs refrigerated at all times.

  • Discard cracked or dirty eggs.

  • Eggs should be cooked until the white and yolk are firm, or until you reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Do not keep eggs warm or at room temperature for more than two hours.

  • Refrigerate unused or leftover egg-containing foods promptly.

  • Avoid eating raw eggs.
